PROFILE OF NORTHERN ECONOMIC SUMMIT GHANA

BACKGROUND

The Northern Economic Summit is a high-level multi-stakeholder platform for development dialogue among the academia, policy actors, development organisations, and the private sector, led by the Centre for Private Sector Development and Inclusive Trade.
The overarching mission of this platform is to drive coordinated public-private sector efforts aimed at addressing peculiar development challenges in the Northern Regions of Ghana with focus on private sector development and inclusive trade.

Goal

The goal of the Summit is to contribute towards wealth creation in the Northern Ghana by positioning the area as an industrial powerhouse of the Sahelian Region within the framework of the AfCFTA Agreement by 2030.

MISSION

  •  Create a platform for identifiable economic and civil society groups to engage policy makers and development partners on policy options and programmes capable of spurring up private sector development in Northern Ghana.
  • Deepen collaboration between the academic community and policy implementers in ensuring that the implementation of development programmes and projects in the Northern Regions delivers on expected outcomes.
  • Create an enabling environment for the uptake of innovative technological solution by the private sector in order to drive economic growth of the Northern Regions of Ghana.
